Daniel J Blasi

Daniel Jeffrey Blasi, 82, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2022 at Legend Memory Care in Lititz, PA.  He was born to Nello and Helen (Fenner) Blasi of Exeter, PA and spent his childhood in that area.

As a boy he excelled at baseball and had many mentions in the local newspapers for his pitching streaks. Dan was a hard-working man who started his career in the US Air Force and was always very proud of his service to his country.  Afterwards he moved to Connecticut to take a job at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft and raise a family.  His career spanned 34 years working with aircraft engines.  He valued the lifelong friendships he made while working at Pratt & Whitney.

Later he remarried to his loving wife Donalee (Miller) for 33 years. They loved taking road trips around New England to their favorite places including the Connecticut shore, Maine, upstate New York and Pennsylvania, sightseeing and enjoying local foods. After retirement they settled in Gordonville, PA where they have lived for the past 11 years.

Dan was an avid nature man who enjoyed spending time in the woods, hunting, fishing, walking, and was always known for growing an amazing garden. He also enjoyed cooking and making Italian dishes he remembered from his childhood.  He took many fun fishing trips to Canada with his children and brother Earl.

Dan leaves behind his devoted wife Donalee, daughter Carla Gorman and husband Robert of Raleigh, NC, son Dan and wife Mary and 4 grandchildren, Autumn, Josh, Michael and Bruno of Plainville, CT, brother Earl and wife Dana of Greer, SC, niece Dawn Castain, nephew Earl Blasi Jr., stepson Scott Spare and stepdaughter Gigi Helme and her family.

Dan’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Legend of Lititz Memory Care and the staff of Hospice & Community Care of Lancaster for the care they provided especially in his final moments.

It was Dan’s wish not to have a service but to have his ashes spread in a special place. In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial donation in Dan’s name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, The Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice & Community Care of Lancaster, PA.

  • Dan, Carla and Donalee, so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad/ Dan. He was the nicest guy. Dad spoke of him often and shared stories of them stationed together in the USAF and at Pratt. My prayers are with you guys and my condolences to you and your families.

  • I am so sad to hear of Dan’s passing, we were together as best friends for a long period of time when we were young. I will always have many great memories of Dan. Although living in different areas we remained friends through the years.
My condolences to Donalee and all his family.
