  • My mother, Jayne Bartgis Felton stayed in contact with Doris and Ted for many years and always had fond memories of their visits. My grandmother was Virginia Bassler Bartgis, daughter of Edward and Laura V. Bassler of Baltimore, MD.

  • Doris’s Relatives and Friends,
Our friendship started eight years ago when I entered the Mennonite Home and became Doris’s roommate.
We went to a few activities together, including the monthly Birthday Party. Weeknights we watched “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy;’ Saturday was “Lawrence Welk” night.
Oh, who couldn’t love a cute “little old lady” (her phrase) named Doris Smith!
    With sympathy and best wishes,
Miriam Latshaw (submitted by her sister)

  • Linda, Jean & family, No matter the age, it is always difficult to lose your Mom and grandmother. May your family time of celebrating Doris’ life be filled with sharing many happy memories. Our sympathy to all.

  • Linda and Jean, sincere and heartfelt condolences from Cathy and me. Your mother lived a long and fruitful life. I have fond memories as a young man going with my parents for visits to your home in School Lane Hills. I will forever have fond memories of your mother. She was always warm and gracious.

    Best wishes,
    David and Cathy Walton
