George Cox

George Cox, 72, of New Providence, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 20th, 2015. He was the loving husband of Peggy Cox.

Born in Chester, Delaware County, PA, he was the son of the late Earl Ford and Grace Elizabeth (Gay) Cox.

George was a graduate of Media High School, class of 1962. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard, was a volunteer Firefighter for Media Fire Company and retired from Verizon after 43 years.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Cox, of 44 years and his five children; George J. Cox married to Danielle, Theresa Cox, Monica Cox, William Cox married to Jessica, and Joseph Cox. Seven grandchildren, many loving nieces and nephews and a brother Charles Cox.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at New Providence Church of God, 269 Cinder Road, New Providence, PA 17560 on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Friends may greet the family from 10am – 12pm.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George’s memory to the Quarryville Fire Department, P.O. Box 143, Quarryville, PA  17566.

  • Peggy and Family, Maggie and I send our sincerest sympathies to you and your family. George was a big part of our Ocean City lives and we always enjoyed his company. Take care and always know that he is watching over you because I know he dearly loved his family.
