James D. Sherlaw of Lancaster, PA passed away May 14, 2019. He was 75. Jim was born in Brockton, MA on November 10, 1943. He was married to Martha Sherlaw for 55 yrs. and is survived by his daughter ,Yvonne Davis of York,PA and his son, Kenneth Sherlaw(wife Andrea Good) of Stewartsville, NJ. He had 3 Grandchildren, Jacqueline Davis of York, PA and Alexis and Zoe of Stewartsville, NJ. He is also survived by two sisters, Sandy Ott (husband- Sid) of Greensboro, MD and Helen Baynard (husband- Charles).
Jim had a brother-in-law Edward Graffte (wife-Joanne) and an aunt Karen Sherlaw (deceased husband-Floyd). There are many loved nieces and nephews.
Jim graduated from Northeastern University in 1966. After employment at Hamilton Watch and Schick Electric, he founded Dutch Valley Auto Works in 1971. His favorite saying was “we fix cars like we would want ours”.
Jim loved rebuilding antique cars, skiing, and family trips to Skowhegan, ME.
After selling the business in 1971, he enjoyed attending car shows and spending time with his family,
The family will have a private internment in Maine.

Heartfelt prayers of support being sent your way. Jim was instrumental in becoming our dad’s best friend while at Legends. Dad, Bill Carlin, loved sharing stories, comparing “coffee cups” at the dinner table, playing virtual bowling, napping in the sunshine on the front porch. Dad is devastated, as are we, in hearing of Jim’s death. We asked Jim to share Easter Sunday with us…we all ate pizza in the Bistro area. I have some pictures of that day if you would like them. Sorry to hear of Jim’s passing.We were both members of Central Pennsylvania Street Rods back in the 70s-80s,and we both had 1937 Ford Four Door Sedans.Jim helped me do some bodywork on mine and he taught me the basics of gas welding,so I could finish the sheet metal work on my car.When it was time to put paint on my car Jim and Chris at Dutch Valley sprayed Green Imron Metallic on it and it still look great after over 40 years.Jim was always a good guy,I’m sure he will be missed by many.

I was so sorry to read about Jim’s passing. I will always remember the good times we had together on Street Rod runs and time spent at your home. We always had such fun. I will always remember Jim, you, Eva and Kenny. Leslie and Lee send their condolences also. Good memories.

Martha, Yvonne and Ken,
I was so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I recall all of the great times our two families had together. He was one of my best friends of all time and I wish we could have spent more of our later years with one another. I feel for you in your time of loss and wish each of you God’s peace and comfort.

worked with jim at hamilton watch in the auto screw machine my sister tina givler was an inspector at the same time. sorry to hear of his passing. great person and a good supervisor. charlie CHUCK grebinger now in phoenix az.
