Miles William Herr (9-27-1933 to 8-18-2019)
Miles William Herr, 85, of Lancaster, peacefully passed away at Oak Leaf Manor South Assisted Living on Sunday, August 18, 2019. He was the loving husband of Doris Anne (Walton) Herr who preceded him in death on January 30, 2010.
Miles was born in Lancaster and raised on Queen Street by his parents Katherine and Mike Herr. A graduate of McCaskey High School, Miles went on to become self employed home improvement contractor after serving in the U.S. Army in England.
An avid outdoorsman, Miles spent most of his days plotting his next hunting or fishing trip – especially those to Frogtown Hunting Camp in Centre County, PA.
Surviving Miles, a son Donald C Herr, husband of Cynthia Evans-Herr, a grandson Donald S Herr, husband of Megan (Keeney) Herr and a great-grandson Miles S Herr.
A celebration of life for family and friends will be announced.
Dudie was the oldest brother to my father, Jack. I believe they had a close friendship, as my siblings & I thought of D.A. & Dudie like second parents. We did alot together when my Dad was alive, but, unfortunately, less as time passed. I was only 9 yrs old when Dad left us, but I do remember the great fun we had with our family! Loved them all! So sorry for you Donnie & family.
I will say Miles did a great job on the siding and installation of insulation on our old home close to 40 years ago and was a pleasure to work with,may he rest in peace and hopefully with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ if He believed in Him in his heart.thanks
Miles, or Dudie as he was known by the family, was a mild mannered easy going person much like his mother, Katherine. I am one of the Maryland cousins who spent many special times with all of the cousins at Aunt Katherine and Uncle Mike’s home and around the corner at our grandparents home on Conestoga Street. We wish to send our condolences to Donnie and the family and hope to meet with them at the celebration of his life and share memories of a special guy.

Sorry to hear of Dudie’s passing. He was my cousin, the oldest of the three Herr boys, and when we were growing up he used to play with us in Aunt Catherine and Uncle Mike’s back yard and we’d play “Army” and “Socks”. I remember him taking Jimmy Kreckel and I down to the Conestoga to fish for catfish. We send our condolences and blessings to the family. Bob and Sharon Bolenius.
