Bruce M Thorud

The family of Bruce M. Thorud is saddened to announce that he passed away on July 24 at the age of 83 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Karel (Law) Thorud, sisters-in-law Karen Vaughan, Nancy (Robert) Viking, nephews Brendan Vaughan (Olena) and Kevin Vaughan (Lindsay), grandnephews Declan, Cormac and James, and grandniece Zoe.

Bruce had a long and successful career in retail management, serving as an executive first at Donaldson’s Department Store in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota, and later with Bon Ton and Boscov’s in Pennsylvania.

Bruce and Karel enjoyed many years of travel and cruises together with friends.

The family would like to express gratitude to Bruce’s compassionate caregivers at Lancaster General Hospital.

A private family memorial ceremony will be held at a later date. Donations to the Parkinson’s Foundation https://www.parkinson.org are requested in lieu of flowers.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
