Earl L. "Joe" Wertz

Earl “Joe” Wertz, 79 years old of Morgantown passed away on Monday February 16th, 2026 at Reading Hospital. Earl was the son of Clarence and Grace (Weller) Wertz of Narvon. He was the husband of Barbara A Wertz, with whom they shared 58 lovely years. Earl was always the life of the party and always telling jokes.

He would talk to everyone and enjoyed going to auctions to see what kind of junk he could find. Earl had a passion for fixing lawn mowers and any type of small engine that wouldn’t run. He could usually be found in the garage working on something or making something. If not in the garage he was found at BB’s or Turkey Hill buying scratch off tickets.

He is survived by daughter Jen and life companion Todd Meyers of Hummelstown, daughter Joanne, wife of Jesse Ashcroft of New Holland. Sister Patsy Hooper of Narvon. Granddaughters Catlin Edwards of Morgantown, Hannah, wife of Clay Dimon, Lauryn Ashcroft, and Sophia Ashcroft all from New Holland. He is also survived by one great grandson C.J. Dimon. Also survived by his four-legged companion Poe.

There will be no funeral or viewing services. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the Pibbles & More Animal Rescue.
