Jack F. Wittmaier, 75, of Lancaster passed into eternity on March 6, 2024 after battling cancer. Born in Reading, PA on December 2, 1948, he was the third of three sons born to the late Rev. Herbert and Miriam Wittmaier. Jack and his wife, Charlene, recently celebrated their twentieth anniversary.
He graduated from Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School in 1966 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree from Moravian College, and a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Seminary. After graduation he served as a senior pastor in the Evangelical Congregational church denomination for twelve years. During that time, he served at three different churches and spent one year as a Christian evangelist with the Susek Evangelistic Association. After his career in ministry, he went on to earn his real estate license and was a realtor for more than 25 years.
He was a dedicated Philadelphia sports fan and most enjoyed talking about the Eagles and the Phillies.
He was preceded in death by his late brother Herbert “Bud” Wittmaier, and is survived by his brother Bruce C. Wittmaier of Lancaster. From his marriage to Barbara Bickel Winn, Jack’s surviving family includes three adult children, sons Peter and Daniel both of Lititz, daughter Suzanne of Prescott, AZ, and ten grandchildren.
A funeral service honoring Jack will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 South Duke Street in Lancaster, PA 17602 beginning at 11am. Friends, family and guests are welcome to a family greeting time beginning at 10:30am.
