Janet Cherry

Jul 2, 1939 — Jun 16, 2026

Janet Roub Cherry, 86, of Strasburg, PA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 16, 2026.

In her lifetime, Janet was defined by her devotion to faith, family, and friends. Janet was born on July 2, 1939 in Bellwood, PA, and married her high school sweetheart, Philip R. Cherry on August 14, 1965. Together they raised three sons; Dana, Kirk, and Ian. Although separated by distance, Janet loved watching her six grandchildren grow and experience the world. Faith was incredibly important to Janet. She attended Philadelphia College of Bible and continued her support of Christian education and missionary work throughout her life. An active member of Harvest Presbyterian Church, her love for God was shared with others as she served as a Sunday school teacher, mentored younger women, and hosted small group Bible studies with her husband Phil. She was stalwart in prayer for her family and friends, and committed to faithfully reading God’s Word, reading it cover-to-cover dozens of times throughout her life. Janet helped develop the talent of many young music students, serving as a private piano teacher. She helped encourage healthy living through her small business and shared the gospel with those who would listen. Janet appreciated the beauty in God’s creation and loved traveling to visit family, while also taking in the majesty of her surroundings. In her spare time, Janet was an avid cross-stitcher and enjoyed gifting her creations to family and friends.

Janet is survived by her three dearly loved sons and their families: Dana Cherry, wife Debbie, and children Danielle and David; Kirk Cherry, wife Bonnie, and children Caleb and Caedmon; and Ian Cherry, wife Heather, and children Addison and Cora.

A joint memorial service will be held for Janet and her husband, Phil, on Saturday, August 8, at 2 PM at Harvest Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, PA. For those not able to attend in person, the service will streamed via YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/@harvestsermons3228/streams
