Janet D Jacobs

Janet D. (Penwell) Jacobs age 95 of Lancaster passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at Susquehanna Health Care Center after a short stay. She grew up in Marietta, the daughter of the late John Wilson Penwell and Cora Shreiner Penwell. Janet also lived for many years in the Columbia, Silver Spring’s area when her children were growing up.

 She had worked for Buffalo Plastics, KD Tools and HDJ Machine Shop. Janet enjoyed playing bingo, trips to the casinos, watching the news and caring for her cat.

Surviving are 5 children; Pat Kirchner (Gene) of Maytown, John Jacobs (Deb) of Columbia, Jeanette Steinkirchner (Jack) of North Port, FL, Peggy Atkins companion of Ernie Taira, Roseville, CA, Nancy Schrader (Rod), Wrightsville; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons; Bob and George Jacobs, George’s wife Deb and a grandson Al Jacobs; sister Ann Baker and four brothers, Wilson, Leroy, Ralph and Allen Penwell.

At Janet’s request there will be no service.
