John “Jack” Ditzler formerly of Ephrata passed away December 24, 2025 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. Jack was born December 14, 1937 in Nanticoke, PA., he later moved with his family to the coal country between Mahanoy City & Shenandoah, PA, when his father Levi became a mining engineer. Living in this area, he became an outdoorsman at an early age. Jack graduated from Mahanoy Area High School in 1955, where he excelled at baseball, football & basketball. After graduation he moved with his parents to Ephrata where he met& married his wife Arlene (Bomberger). Jack was the owner of Ditzler’s Firestone, a tire service/automotive repair garage in Ephrata from 1974 to 1996, when he retired. Jack loved golfing, perfecting his game until he was in his early eighties. He was a member of Galen Hall Country Club and Lebanon Country Club for many years. He was a member of the Ephrata Lions Club, and then the Ephrata Rotary Club. During the 1980’s he was a member of the Ephrata School Board. Jack was also a Freemason for over sixty years. Jack also enjoyed a life-long love of fishing and hunting, going on many weekend trips and a few longer adventures over the years. He loved spending time at The Joyce Kilmer Hunting Club in Union County where he was a founding member. Jack is survived by Arlene Ditzler, his loving wife of 64 years, his son John Ditzler, and wife Sherry of Reinholds, PA, and his daughter Krista Fisher, wife of Don Fisher of Gilbertsville, PA. In addition, Jack is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
