Marilyn M (Cordrey) Kobus

d. November 23, 2020

Marilyn Marie (Cordrey) Kobus, 90, of Denver, PA, passed away on Monday, November 23, 2020.  Born in Lewes, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Edna & Howard Cordrey.

Marilyn was the wife of the late Edward Kobus who died on February 13, 2006.  Edward was the founding Pastor of Bible Baptist Church now known as Lighthouse Church in Harrisburg, PA.  Marilyn loved serving others alongside her husband.   It is impossible to list all the amazing ways that she contributed as they include everything from being the church organist/pianist, to organizing mission conferences, and even driving a big yellow school bus for VBS.  She was willing to help however she could.

For the last 16 years, Marilyn was a member of Valley Forge Baptist Temple in Collegeville, PA.  She loved attending services there and enjoyed helping with the children’s Sunday School.

Marilyn is survived by her 4 children: Susan Flotron (Dave) of Jeffersonville, IN; Carol Spadino (Paul) of Denver, PA; Janice Kulp (Mike) of Clarks Summit, PA; and David Kobus (Terina) of Johns Creek, GA.    She is also survived by 6 grandchildren:  Megan Murphy (Brandon), Kaley Oakley (Steven), Brittany Jones (Morgan), Jesse Spadino, Brandon Kobus (Cassi) and Ethan Spadino.   Marilyn loved her 2 great granddaughters:   Riley Jones and Estelle Oakley.  Her cockapoo, Mia, was a loving and faithful companion.  Marilyn was preceded in death by her brother Howard Cordrey.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held Summer 2021.   In lieu of flowers, contributions in her honor may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 600 N. 48 th Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
