Mary (MiMi) Farrow McDonald, 86, of Manheim, PA., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at home. MiMi was born March 23, 1938, in Dover, Delaware to Oliver W. and Clara Frame Farrow. MiMi resided primarily in Chester County, Pennsylvania. MiMi held leadership roles with The Chester County Historical Society and enjoyed lifelong memberships with the Daughters of the American Revolution and Delaware Colonial Dames.
MiMi is survived by her four children, Elizabeth (Beth) Evans Lytle, wife of Kurt; John C. Evans, husband of Lynne; Jaye Allison Norris; and DuVal H. Evans, Jr., partner of Alicia. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Melissa Evans Hitchcock, Geoff Norris, Clayton Evans, Christian Evans, Kerri Lytle, and Jacqueline Lytle Knauer, as well as six great-grandchildren: Keegan Lytle, Crew Norris, Melanie Knauer, Kohana Hitchcock, Kai Hitchcock and Sayora Hitchcock. Additionally, she is survived by multiple nieces and nephews.
MiMi was preceded in death by her parents, Clara Frame and Oliver W. Farrow; her twin sister, Clara Putnam; three brothers, Thomas Harrison, Richard (Dick) Farrow, and Bud Farrow; one brother-in-law, Wallace Putnam; and two sisters-in-law, Ann Farrow and Ruth Farrow.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many, MiMi pursued a variety of interests, including fashion, decorating, antiquing. She was a most-talented needleworker, creating beautiful and diverse needlepoint, crewel, and cross-stich works. MiMi devoted a great deal of time to volunteer work, being a well-known figure at The Devon Horse Show and Dressage at Devon. She also hunted with the Ardrossan Beagle Pack out of Radnor Hunt Club, especially enjoying her work with beagle puppies in their early training.
The family would like to extend a special, heartfelt thank you to MiMi’s loving and close friends, Joice Carr and Karen Ramsing-Bixler, for their extraordinarily kind assistance during Mimi’s period of illness. They would also like to thank the wonderful staff of Hospice and Community Care for their compassionate care and home support.
