Nadine Revene was born May 30, 1935 in Brooklyn, NY. She passed away April 13th, 2026 in Lancaster, PA. In death, she is preceded by her parents: Roy Marcus Revene and Marcelle Doguereau; siblings: Paul Revene, Germaine Revene Groah and Perrine Revene Dubbs; nephew: Patrick Groah. She is survived by nieces and nephews: The Revenes - Paula, Justin, Victoria, Eric; The Dubbs - Mark and John; The Groahs: Nadine, Maureen and Marcus.
From an early age, Nadine’s love and natural ability for dance was apparent. She began her training in Lancaster and at age 15 moved to NY, NY to pursue her career as a professional dancer. She completed high school there, while attending classes at Madame Platova’s Studio, The George Balanchine School for the American Ballet, as well as American Ballet Theater.
Nadine was immediately cast in Broadway theater productions which included Music Man and Call Me Madame. She went on to become a soloist with American Ballet Theater, touring the US and Europe. Then she moved to New York City Ballet where one of her tours took her to Russia (known then as the USSR). Nadine also appeared in many musical productions with the New York City Center Light Opera Company. She then became a principal ballerina for the Bremen Opera Ballet in Germany, along with a soloist for the First Chamber Dance Quartet. For the Pennsylvania Ballet, she did 30 home performances and 100, across the country.
New York City beckoned once again. After her illustrious dance career, spanning 20 years, Nadine began to teach ballet in private studios, at Ballet Arts and The Alvin Ailey School. Nadine also, having suffered from ill-fitting toe shoes her whole career, launched Pavlova’s Pointe and revolutionized the design and construction of the shoe.
In her late 70’s, Nadine decided to move back to Lancaster where she continued to teach ballet into her late 80’s. She created an amazing community of dancers and a legion of devotees, all inspired by her innate understanding of the body, musicality and passion for dance.
She will be missed and loved for eternity, by so many far and wide. We know she is enjoying new feet and the freedom to dance in the beauty of the afterlife.
