Raymond Kenneth “Ken” Sweeney, 79, of Lancaster, PA, passed away on July 15, 2018. He was the loving husband of Dr. Jane Weierbach and devoted father of Sam Sweeney and Megan Anderson.

Ken was born in 1939 in Lebanon, PA to parents Raymond Earl Sweeney and Alice Long Sweeney. He graduated from Southern Lebanon High School. He was a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College with a degree in business and economics. He also studied at Villanova University.

Ken worked over 50 years in the finance industry as a stockbroker and financial advisor. He previously served as Vice President of Prudential Securities Lancaster branch. Most recently, he worked as Branch Manager and Investment Advisor for the Lancaster branch of Cantella and Company. The depth and breadth of his investment knowledge was featured in articles about him in publications such as The Wall Street Journal.

Ken had a passion for cars and motorcycles derived from his relationship with his Uncle Carl Long, an airplane mechanic. As a young man, Ken enjoyed drag racing the cars he and his uncle built. While Ken owned many cars over the years, his prized possession was his 1969 Volvo which he bought new and owned until the day of his passing. He would frequently participate in local car shows with “Old Blue”. Ken enjoyed exploring the outdoors with his family, especially kayaking, skiing, hiking, and fishing. He was an avid supporter of his son’s sporting events, specifically basketball and ski racing.

He is survived by his wife Dr. Jane Weierbach, son Samuel Sweeney, daughter Megan Anderson, grandson Tyler Anderson, brother Stanley Sweeney, brother Harry Sweeney, nephew Kirk Sweeney, and nephew Sterling Sweeney.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service honoring the life of Ken Sweeney on Saturday, August 4th, 2018, 11:00 am at Hempfield United Methodist Church, 3050 Marietta Avenue, Lancaster, PA.
