Lancaster – Robert Fred Kloepfer, 89, passed peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026
Robert served as a private in the Army National Guard of Pennsylvania from 1959 – 1965. He lived life fully and had a number of jobs, including working in food sales for Albert Taft & Sons, Hugh T. Gilmore, Orlando Bakery, and other companies throughout his career. He took pride in his work and truly valued the friendships and connections he made along the way. An avid bowler, achieving a 300 game, Robert enjoyed life and was described by his family as full of sunshine and greeting everyone with a smile. He and his wife, Margaret, enjoyed traveling with friends and family, including camping, fishing with his grandsons, and going to the beach.
Known for his masterful skills on the grill, including his famous barbeque chicken, he always valued sharing meals with family and friends. He was a member of the Lions Club International in Strasburg and served as president in 1975 and 1976. A passionate woodworker, you could find him selling his work at craft fairs throughout Lancaster County.
He is predeceased by his first wife Donna E. Kloepfer (Miller), his sister Nancy McGarrity, a step granddaughter Dianna Johnson, a step great granddaughter Chasity Nieves, and his mother Esther Dealy.
He is survived by his wife Margaret Kloepfer (Eckman, Bond) of Lancaster, his brother George Mohler (Mary), his daughter Kristine M. Becker (Troy), his son Robert Patrick Kloepfer (Stephanie), stepdaughter Tammy Collier (Rich), and stepson Michael Eckman (Juanita). He was affectionately known as “Grandpa Bob” to his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
