Robert M. Moore

Robert M. Moore, age 56, of York Springs, PA, passed peacefully into eternal life surrounded by family on June 27, 2026, after a year’s long battle with ALS. He was a beloved brother, nephew, cousin, godfather, “uncle,” and friend who will be dearly missed.

Bob’s faith in God gave him the desire to unite his suffering with the suffering of Jesus on the cross, strengthened him throughout a debilitating illness, and transformed his pain into a sacrifice that he offered to God for his family and friends.

Born in Meadowbrook, PA, on July 2, 1969, Bob was the son of the late Robert and Constance (Shirey) Moore, and the grandson of the late Charles and Jean (Rengepis) Shirey, and the late Edward and Anna-Mae (Madden) Troy. He made lifelong friends while attending grade school at St. Martin of Tours and Father Judge High School in Philadelphia, PA, where he excelled in track and field.

Bob spent years delivering, setting up, and training patients and clients in the use of durable medical equipment. He was passionate about this work and went beyond caring for his customers, especially those who were in hospice care or had no family support. Most recently, Bob worked as a forklift driver for ABF Freight and spoke highly of the good friends he made there.

Bob’s childlike heart made it easy for him to relate to children. He loved kids and shared many fun times with his cousins’ children and family friends. Whenever he could, he anonymously gifted Christmas toys to children in need. Bob truly loved Christmas and decorated elaborately. He looked forward to his mother’s Christmas cookies, her cooking, and visiting with family during the holidays.

Bob deeply enjoyed nature and being outdoors. He took pleasure in playing sports, fishing in local creeks, having adventures in the snow, target shooting, and exploring the stars. He took delight in watching the horses, deer, and beautiful sunsets from his home in York Springs with his friends, their dogs, and his brother. When he was not outside, he liked watching sports, movies, and TV, playing RuneScape, and repairing old televisions, VCRs, and radios.

Bob will be fondly remembered by his twin brother, Ryan P. Moore of Bechtelsville, PA. He will also be deeply missed by his cousin Jean and her husband, Rusty McCollum, who lovingly cared for him, and a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
