Robert Morris

December 18, 1956 — May 18, 2025

East Petersburg

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert H. Morris, announces his passing on May 18, 2025 at The Gardens at Stevens Nursing Home. Bob, 68, was born December 18, 1956, in Lancaster and resided in East Petersburg. He was the son of Robert E. Morris and Dorothy (Freeman) Anderson and stepfather, Glenn Anderson. He attended Hempfield High School and graduated from Manheim Twp High School in 1976. He attended the Lutheran Church in East Petersburg.

Bob loved sports. While in high school he assisted in coaching Midget Football and was the assistant equipment manager of High School Soccer. He was a huge Seattle Seahawks fan, which anyone could tell by his apparel. As a football fan, he traveled to Philadelphia to see the Eagles play and to Baltimore to see the Ravens. The Boston Red Sox was his favorite baseball team. Bob worked for Zartman Dodge and later for the Manheim Auto Auction which he enjoyed tremendously, mostly because his “team” worked so well together. Bob was quite proud of his work ethic throughout his life, no matter what job he was doing. He was a charmer with a great sense of humor, and he could tell a great story that would have us laughing.

Bob is survived by his wife of 41 years, Virginia L. Morris (Ruhl), his daughter Michelle L. Morris of Midland, Texas and his son Andrew S. Morris, “Drew” of East Petersburg. He is also survived by his siblings, Deborah Herr (James) of Elizabethtown, Jill Reitz (Larry) of Lancaster, and Heather Wolters (Seth) of San Francisco, and his dearest friend Nikki Groff, of Manheim. Bob was predeceased by his father, Robert Morris, and his brother Daniel M. Morris, with whom he had some crazy adventures when they were young. The light of his life was his granddaughter Danielle Morris, “Dani” of Midland, Texas, his Dani Girl, of whom he was so very proud.

Bob was a kind and gentle man, and he will be deeply missed by his friends and family. As per his wishes there will be no formal funeral service, the family will have a memorial service at a later date.

Memorial donations in Bob’s name can be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
