Roger E Long finished the journey that he started 73 years ago at the Lancaster General Hospital on June 30,2025.
He is the son of the late Earl S Long and Mary Catherine (Hackerty) Long. He is survived by a sister, Marilyn Long Weaver, Strasburg, two nieces, Erin Weaver, Lancaster, Elisabeth Weaver (Casey Spacht) Strasburg and a great nephew, Quehanna Spacht Weaver, Strasburg.
After graduating from Manheim Township High School class of 1971, he earned his license as a heavy equipment operator. Roger followed his dream to head West to San Diego, where he was part of the construction of Interstate 501 for 10 years. He later returned to Lancaster in the early 80s to help his sister and her family build their home South of Strasburg. He was part of the reconstruction of Route 30 from 1996 - 2002.
Roger was a person with a big heart and few words. He was his happiest skiing/snow
boarding the double black diamonds in Breckenridge, sitting on the beach at Stone Harbor listening to the ocean and cruising the backroads of Potter County.
He lived his life his way. Happy trails to you until we meet again.
