Rose Brooks

Rose C. Brooks, 78, of Lancaster, was called up to Heaven on March 23, 2026. She went peacefully in her sleep, after her brave fight with brain cancer. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Richard and Rose Werner. She was the devoted wife of John Brooks, and they were happily married for 55 years.

Rose loved talking to people, sharing stories, and reading books that she would swap with her daughters to read as well. She loved the beach and would go to Rehoboth, Delaware every year. The beach was a happy place for her, and she always looked forward to going in the summer with her family. Rose also liked taking walks with her husband, John, whether that was at the beach or going to Park City Mall to get a pretzel and walk around. Her presence was felt by anyone who was around her and she was always unapologetically herself.

She is survived by her husband John, and their four children: Donna Shirk (wife of Tom Shirk), Tina Tantala (wife of John Tantala), Stacey Brooks-Geiter, and Tommy Brooks (husband of Sarah Brooks). She was also loved by her seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rose did not wish to have a service, but if anyone wants to pay their respects for her, they can read a book, relax on a beach, or just remember the laughs they shared with her. She will live on through all the happy memories we have of her.
