Susan Gager

Susan M. Gager, 48, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Lancaster General Hospital after an admirable 5 year battle with cancer.

Born June 30, 1977 in Lancaster, PA she was the daughter of Kathleen M. Gager (Silvius) and the late Barry L. Gager.

Susan grew up in Maytown where she had an enriched childhood alongside her brother. She often took trips with her grandparents as well as visited family in Florida during the summer months. She graduated from Donegal High School in 1995. Susan enjoyed an early retirement in 2020 after serving the community for over 20 years as a CNA for Rheems Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and St. Anne's Retirement Community.

She spent much of her time gardening, crafting handmade gifts, and cooking her favorite meals which consisted of lots of German and Pennsylvania Dutch recipes: chicken pot pie, corn soup, and pork and sauerkraut. She noted on many occasions that she didn't eat to live, she lived to eat! Her favorite holiday was Christmas which she celebrated by visiting Koziar's Christmas Village.

Above all else, she felt the most joy when spending time with her family. Whether it was going to live concerts, restaurants, historical sites or attractions, she was up for just about anything so long as she was with the people she loved.

She was preceded in death by her father, Barry L. Gager and her uncle, Jesse L. Silvius.

Surviving Susan is her mother, Kathleen M. Gager (Silvius) of Lancaster; daughter, Justine M. Goldsborough and her partner, Greg M. Gervasi of Lancaster; her son, Hunter A. Goldsborough of Conestoga; their father, Thomas A. Goldsborough of Columbia; a brother, Michael L. Gager and his partner, Gretchen Hess of Lancaster; an aunt, Tracy Sedlock (Gager) of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a nephew, Zachary Gager and his wife, Julia Gager; a niece, Autumn Gager; and nephew, Christopher Mummau; in addition to extended family both in Lancaster county and Florida.

At Susan's request there will be no service or funeral. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society.
