Stanley Ober

Stanley Ober, 87, of Lititz passed away on the fifth of November 2016 after a brief illness.  He was born on December 15, 1928 in East Petersburg Pa to the late Harry and Jenny Ober.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Myra Jane, his children Eric Ober and Karen Matroni, and five grandchildren as well as three step-children and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sibling, Chester Ober and his former wife Jean (Schmieder) Ober.

Stanley was an owner and operator of Binkley and Ober Quarry Inc. in East Petersburg. The day before he went to the hospital Stanley was busy organizing to plant fifty trees in a small arboretum he started a few years ago on a farm in Lancaster.  Humbly called “the meadow”, he collected and planted many types of native trees such as oaks, ashes, and sweet gums.   A lover of nature, he built a beautiful home on a wooded lot where he raised his family and later enjoyed retirement with his wife Jane.   In addition to working around the home and tending to his trees, he enjoyed bird watching and was a voracious reader, especially of history, philosophy, and science. Stanley Ober will be remembered as a man of exceptional character: industrious, loyal, humble, curious and kind.

The family is holding a private memorial.  To leave an online condolence please visit www.CremationLancasterPA.com
